[Okaeri Mone] Kaya's Letter Vol. 04 - Memorable Scenes (Week 13-17) & Questions from Viewers [Part 2]

Kaya's Letter Vol. 04
Memorable Scenes (Week 13-17) & Questions from Viewers [Part 2]

The original interview can be found here. I decided to translate all the Okaeri Mone contents. The official website will be deleted on 31st January 2022. Hence, I'm archiving the interview before it's gone. I hope that my translation makes sense because it's been awhile since I translate something.

And, Happy New Year, everyone!!

Disclaimer: I'm still a novice translator, hence my translation is not 100% accurate.

In this corner, we ask Kiyohara Kaya, who plays the heroine Nagaura Momone (Mone), what she is interested in. Somehow, the writing "Kaya's Letter" were handwritten by Kiyohara-san!

This issue, we are covering Kiyohara-san's memorable scenes in Week 13 to 17. In addition, we asked her to answer "Questions to Kiyohara-san" submitted by the viewers, just like last time!

Week 14, Episode 68
The scene where Koji (Uchino Seiyo) goes to Weather Experts

We shot this scene quite a while ago, at the same time as the scene where Monet goes to Weather Experts for the first time (Week 10, Episode 46). First of all, I did a play where I turned the map on my phone upside down to find the company.

Then, Uchino-san who was watching said, "I'll copy that!". Mone's movements and timing in Episode 46 and her dad's in the Episode 68 were exactly the same (laughs). The same goes for the composition of the camera. Uchino-san, you're so funny!

Week 16, Episode 76
The scene where Mone meets Ryo (Nagase Ren) at a coffee shop and talks about what to eat

It's the scene at the coffee shop where Mone went alone after getting in touch with Ryochin, who had disappeared. When Ryochin said "Can you please stop saying omurice every single time I'm about to order food?" and Mone answered "But, you love it, don't you?". Their conversational exchange is good. When I was doing the scene, I thought to myself, "Adachi-san (The screenwriter).... this is fun!"

Week 17, Episode 83
The scene where Uchida (Shimizu Hiroya) picks up Asumi (Tsunematsu Yuri) and takes him out to buy clothes.

It was interesting to see how quickly they were getting closer to each other. Shimizu-kun and Tsunematsu-chan have worked together before and are good friends. As Mone, I was surprised, but as for myself, it was a lot of fun. Mamo-chan... (laughs). I want to see more scenes with these two. And Mamo-chan got a big makeover with the clothes he bought, didn't he? We all talked about how "He's just plain handsome!" (laughs).

Week 17, Episode 85
The scene where Natsu (Maiko) tells to Riko (Imada Mio) that "People don't need to get hurt."

It was a scene when Jinno-san was feeling depressed because the ratings for the weather corner, Asa Kira, had dropped and Uchida-san had made his debut in the studio. When Jinno-san says, "People who have experienced being hurt are strong," and "I don't have that experience", Natsu-san assures her, "There is nothing good about being hurt" and "People don't need to be hurt". I really thought that was true.

I really like Natsu-san, who can tell us that such a world would definitely be happier and that we can hope for that. It was a memorable scene that inspired Jinno-san to stand up for herself.

Questions from the Viewers [Part 2]

Kiyohara-san will be answering questions from viewers that were collected on the show's official homepage and Instagram account!

Question 1
"I've been watching the show and admiring the stylish outfits of all the actors, including Uchino Seiyo and Natsuki Mari. Are there any outfits that you like?"

I like the "Tokyo work style" of wearing a collared shirt and comfortable pants with a J-Tele ID card around the neck. I had a lot of discussions with the costume department staff, and we tried to make an outfit that would give a clean and flat feeling.

Compared to the days when I wore a T-shirt, hoodie, and half pants, I've become much more urban. I'm glad that the staff at the shooting site said, "You look like you can do your job." (laughs).

Question 2
"My name is also Mone, just like the title! I'd like to know how you felt when you first heard the title!"

You're one of us! When I heard the title for the first time, I thought "Mone" was cute, whether it's a real name or nickname. The word "Okaeri" (welcome home) is also very nice. When I live alone, it's nice to have someone who says "welcome home" to me, and to have a place where I can hear it. I was looking forward to reading the first script to find out what kind of girl "Mone" would be, who has a place where people can say "Welcome home" to her.

Question 3
"What song would you like to listen to on a sunny day and what song would you like to listen to on a rainy day?"

The song I want to listen to on a sunny day is Sokabe Keiichi's Hekiraku! The song I want to listen to on a rainy day is YEN TOWN BAND's Swallowtail Butterfly ~Ai no Uta~! If you were to ask me why I choose or why I like these songs, I'd have to say something vague like a sense of tension or temperature, but I like it.

Question 4
"What do you want to do after the morning drama is over?"
(Question from Sato Miyuki as Kikuchi Rino, Cafe Shiinomi staff)

Thank you for the question, Sato-san! I'm currently thinking about what I want to do after the morning drama ends... What should I do? I don't know what I want to do. I can't think of much. I have to shoot, but I'm eating what I want, I'm sleeping well, and I have time for my hobbies such as watching movies and reading books.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm good at finding small happiness and I'm rather satisfied with my current life... Oh, and when the world gets a little calmer, I want to go to the cinema a lot!

Stay tuned for the next volume!
