The original interview can be found here. I decided to translate all the Okaeri Mone contents. I'm in love with this drama and I'm afraid that these interview may be deleted after the series ended. Hence, I'm archiving all the interview before it's gone. I hope that my translation makes sense because it's been awhile since I translate something.

In this corner, we ask Kiyohara Kaya, who plays the heroine Nagaura Momone (Mone), what she is interested in. Somehow, the writing "Kaya's Letter" were handwritten by Kiyohara-san!

This issue, we are covering Kiyohara-san's memorable scenes in Week 10 to 12. In addition, we asked her to answer "Questions to Kiyohara-san" submitted by the viewers! Since there are a lot of questions, we divided this section into two parts. This time, we will be showing the first part.

Week 10, Episode 46
The scene where Mone meets Natsu-san for the first time at Shiomi-yu

 

Natsu-san (Maiko) is the landlord of the share house (Shiomi-yu) where Mone lives in Tokyo. I wonder what it is... Maybe her compassion aura! I feel like she is everyone's sister and mother, who can make you feel warm the moment you see her.

I haven't worked with Maiko-san since "Toumei na Yurikago", where she took care of me. I was really happy when I heard that Maiko-san had been chosen to play Natsu-san. The staff asked me if I had a message for Maiko-san and I said "Please tell her that I want to meet her!" (laughs). We met again during Week 10 shooting and were able to talk about a lot of things, from the script to trivial things.

Week 11, Episode 54-55
The scene where Mone meets Suganami-sensei again at the laundromat

This is the scene where I finally run into Suganami-sensei (Sakaguchi Kentaro), who I had crossed paths with several times in Tokyo after I left Tome. But the first thing he said when he made eye contact with me was "I can't comprehend this." and I was like... "Yes?" (laughs). It's been a while since we've had a long scene with these two, but the distance is still there. The atmosphere of the study session in Tome somehow came back to me and I was like "This is it!". 

The advice he gave to Mone who was depressed about work, "Isn't it okay to cut yourself some slack?" was also heartfelt. Sakaguchi-san also said, "Suganami is getting more gentle."

Questions from the Viewers [Part 1]

Kiyohara-san will be answering questions from viewers that were collected on the show's official Twitter account!

Question 1
"Other than Mone, is there any other character from Okaeri Mone that you would like to play?"

 

Perhaps Shoyo-san (Hamano Kenta), the forest cooperative chief. He has that "the comedian" charm that makes him one of those characters you want to watch all the time.

It's alright for Shoyo-san to include Noh dance movements in an ordinary scene because it's interesting. It's a challenging role, but he looks so free and happy (laughs). Hamaken-san learnt a lot of words from his dialect teacher and there's a lot of improvisation, not only in his movements but also his lines!

Question 2
"What's your latest obsession?"

Muscle training. I don't go to the gym but I try to do muscle training as much as I can at home when I feel like it. I'll do it 3-4 days in a week. There are days where "I can't do it today!", so I eat a lot and go to bed straight away... (laughs).

Question 3
"If you are reborn again, what would you like to be? And, what would you like to do?"

Hmm, I guess a "tree". Like cherry blossom tree. I think there are a lot of people who feels happy when they see the cherry blossom trees. I'm curious to know what it feels like to have my appearance change in four seasons.

In spring, caterpillars might stick to it, but if it was a tree from the beginning, I think it would be alright because that's just the way it is (laughs).

Question 4
"Mitsuo-kun dyed his hair blonde. If Kaya-chan was to dye your hair, what colour would you want it to be?"

I've never dyed my hair. I've never had a role where I didn't have a black hair and I've never encountered a role where I thought "maybe I should dye my hair for this character". I wonder what colour suits me most... Well, I might as well dye it blonde with Mitsuo (laughs).

Question 5
"If you hadn't become an actress, what would you have become? What was your dream when you were young?"

 

When I was in elementary school, I loved singing so much that I joined a chorus club. I thought I wanted to be a singer or something related. I started working as an actor, but I also had the opportunity to sing a theme song for several movies, so I guess my dream came true. You never know what life has in store for you.

I thought of wanting to be a chocolatier because I like chocolate. The reason is because... I wanted to eat the leftover chocolate that had to be thrown away (laughs).
