I hope I can be seen as a cool figure in Mone's eyes
The original interview can be found here. I decided to translate all the Okaeri Mone interview. I'm in love with this drama and I'm afraid that these interview may be deleted after the series ended. Hence, I'm archiving all the interview before it's gone. I hope that my translation makes sense because it's been awhile since I translate something.
Disclaimer: I'm still a novice translator, hence my translation is not 100% accurate.

Nagaura Momone [Kiyohara Kaya] was born and raised on an island in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture. While working as a forester in Tome, she falls in love with the world of weather and eventually becomes involved in the lives of many people as a weather forecaster in the TV series "Okaeri Mone" (Welcome Back, Mone). In this issue, we bring you an interview with Natsuki Mari as Nitta Sayaka who lives with Mone in Tome. What kind of person is Sayaka, who is also called "Princess" by the people of Tome?
—According to Natsuki-san, what kind of person do you feel Nitta Sayaka is?
Sayaka is said to be the descendant of Date Masamune and is the biggest mountain owner in town. She has a strong sense of duty to protect the mountain that she inherited from her ancestors. She has been carrying this burden for a long and I guess that's why she's so tough! She said she has been married four times, but all of them ran away within six months (laughs).
I took the liberty of creating those four characters who split up (with Sayaka). The first one being a bonbon sweets confectioner within the prefecture and the second one being a foreigner who likes Japanese mountains. Well, they all don't match (laughs) because Sayaka is a realist.
—From Mone's point of view, the hearty and strong Sayaka is a veteran in life, isn't it?
Sayaka encourages Mone, who is lost due to her youth, saying "Adults can get lost too" and gives her hints through her actions. Rather than giving her advice, she shows her way of life. I hope I can be seen as a cool figure in Mone's eyes.
—On the other hand, how do you feel Mone is seen from Sayaka's point of view?
Mone is a straightforward person, isn't she? At the age of 18, she wants to help others and you want to support her. Saya doesn't praise her much but I guess she thinks that Mone is a good girl.
I think Mone's attitude of wanting to change her clumsy and confused self is also very encouraging. Sayaka probably feels lonely living alone, so she must be happy to have a young, hopeful girl in her life.
—What do you think are the highlights of "Okaeri Mone", which has just started airing?
This time, the story takes place in Kesennuma, Tome and Tokyo. I think it will be a wonderful portrayal of Mone growing up in each place. Another thing I would like to mention is the beauty of the nature. The theme of this drama is "how to live with nature".
Through Mone, who works as a weather forecaster, I believe that the drama will be portrayed in the larger context of humans, nature and hope. I believe that Mone will show us a bright future.
—I heard that Sayaka also has a lot of scenes to show off, such as Noh performance.
Well, I was taking Noh flute lesson this winter and my teacher said that it was hopeless (laughs). It usually takes eight years to get a proper sound, but I had to do it in one month and I was dying!
I realized that no matter how old you get, there will always be challenges (laughs). Then, another challenges comes after one is over. Now I'm training for a scene where I have to do a shimai (a part of Noh dance without a mask or costume).
—Good work after all those special trainings!
There are so many firsts, from learning the dialect of Tome to how to hold a chicken and how to water a houseplant. I often get soaked in the rain, so the staff and I talk about how I feel like a heroine in a morning drama (laughs). This is the third time I've appeared in a morning drama, and I'm enjoying it.
