STPR Interview [Tower Plus+ Special Issue 2020.11.11]

The original interview article can be found here. This interview is to commemorate STPR's 3rd full album, 'Strawberry Prince'. I will be translating other interviews for the 'Strawberry Prince' promotion (if there is any). Disclaimer: I'm still a novice translator, hence my translation is not 100% accurate.

Currently, the total number of video views on Youtube has exceeded 2.4 billion! The entertainment unit 'SutoPuri' which is popular for its long-running relay and live streams, is going to release their third full album 'Strawberry Prince'. Here is an interview with the members about the new album, which has the most songs in their album history (20 songs in total!).

—First of all, what are your impressions of this summer's no audience live performance?

Nanamori: We had our first no audience live performance on March this year and this was our second audience-free live performance. It was a lot more familiar to us than last time, so we had a lot of fun! t was the most memorable time for this summer. However, it definitely feels lonely with no audience live performance. The listeners' comments were streaming in real time on a big monitor, but I felt a sense of loneliness because I couldn't hear everyone's voices on the other side of the screen. As expected, it reminded of how special it is to have a real live performance.

Colon: That's right. It was fun but also lonely.

Root: I felt lonely because what's been normal up to now isn't normal.

Nanamori: Even so, I felt like we delivered the best we could out of the limited choices we had and it was a great memory in the end!

Riinu: Yeah! It was fun!

Jel: We made some of the best memories this summer, didn't we?

—At the live performance, you announced your affiliation with STPR. Has anything changed in your activities as of now?

Nanamori: There is none! (immediate reply)

Everyone: (laughs)

Jel: Our activities hasn't changed at all.

Colon: Yeah!

Nanamori: Once again, telling the listeners about it made me feel a sense of responsibility and it made us members feel like we have to put our hearts into it and do our best.

Jel: I'm sure all of our listeners will find it easier to explain it to their parents and friends!

Riinu: Surely! I think it's been hard to see what's going on behind the scenes of our activities, but now it's easier to tell the story!

Colon: For example, Kikuchi-san's blog (laughs).

Satomi: Please don't write about us being late, seriously.

Colon: We have to be careful so she wouldn't write about it.

Jel: Don't be late in the first place.

Everyone: (laughs)

—At the same time, you also announced the third album 'Strawberry Prince' release date. As this album has the biggest volume ever (20 songs), what kind of album did you guys make?

Nanamori: It's an album full of everything, including STPR's past (Up to now) and future (From now on).

—This album features the participation of many creators such as kz. Karasuyasabou, Hachioji-P but there was also a familiar writer such as HoneyWorks contributed in the album for 'Prince'. What is the appeal of HoneyWorks' music to you?

Nanamori: I thought their songs were cute and catchy, especially their choice of words were great.

Riinu: Yeah!

Nanamori: The words they use to convey the thoughts in a straightforward manner and the songs they've written for us in the past are the same. For example, LIPxLIP's Romeo. There are a lot of songs I like to listen other than STPR's.

—Which was the most memorable songs for everyone?

Satomi: The answer to this question is definitely "Very".

Jel: Definitely "Very" (laughs).

Satomi: When I listened to all the songs again, I realized that I was the cooles in "Very" for a very good reason.

Root: (laughs)

Jel: Aren't you talking about your own personal opinion?! (laughs)

Satomi: Before the second chorus, I thought it was ridiculously cool. That's why I like this song. That's why it's "Very". There's a deep reason for that!

Riinu: Is that considered as a good reason?

Nanamori: That's pretty shallow...

Riinu: Yeah.

Satomi: (laughs)

Riinu: For me, I enjoyed 'Strawberry Revolution'. There are a lot of syncretic moves in this song. As I was singing it, my mind was already in the live performance. It's a song I want to sing live. I think I was dancing a samba at the moment I was singing it!

—A Samba?

Colon: Samba?

Root: Dancing a samba??

Jel: Dancing a samba???

Riinu: (laughs)

Satomi: We danced a samba??

Everyone: (laughs)

Riinu: Yeah, that's deep...  Was it deep?

Nanamori: Riinu-kun... Lately, he's been acting really weird (whispers).

Satomi: (laughs)

Nanamori: During another interview, he told a mystery story at the end (laughs)

Colon: He said Pien and Paon (laughs)!

Riinu: Eh, I think I'm just tired (laughs).

Nanamori: Riinu-kun, do your best! You can do it, you can do it (laughs)!

Root: Eh... For me, it's 'Mukou e'. It's a song with a lot of emotions in it. It's a song about the courage to take the first step with your friends. The importance of companionship was also included. I really like it because it overlaps with "STPR".

Nanamori: There is also a movement battle. It's more of a team battle everyday. It definitely overlaps.

Root: It's amazing that it overlaps!

Colon: If I were to answer in terms of favourite songs, I would say that 'Night of Fantastic' is my favourite song. I don't have a car but I want to listen to it when I drive. I want to listen to this song while driving on the sea. Then, wear the sunglasses. I love it so much!

Nanamori: You've always said that you like the song.

Colon: I love it!

Nanamori: How about you, Jel-kun?

Jel
: I definitely choose 'Dramatic no Anti'.

Nanamori: Oooh!

Jel: It's an Otonagumi (Nanamori x Jel x Satomi) song. It's super dark though.

Colon: (laughs)

Jel: It's not just dark, it's a very strong song about us! The lyrics are very challenging and the melody is very heavy. The song expresses a kind of momentum and strength like 'Let's get into it!'.

Nanamori: Doesn't 'Dramatic no Anti' sound like a way to complain about something you do without thinking too much about it?

Jel: Yeah!

Nanamori: I love it because everyone says they love it. I hate it because everyone says they hate it. I don't everyone is really speaking for themselves.

Jel: You're right, it's a song that can be interpreted in many ways when you consider the lyrics.

Nanamori: You have to express your thoughts in your own words. Jel-kun! Can you do that?

Jel: Eh, Am I being judged right now (laughs)?!

Everyone: (laughs)

Jel: It's a challenging STPR song with a strong message that has never been done before in the past!

Nanamori: As for me, I like every songs. Yep.

Everyone: (laughs)

Jel: Every time you're in that position!

Colon: You put it all together...

Nanamori: I can't choose. 20 songs, I love them all.

Jel: It doesn't add up to us who chose it (laughs).

Nanamori: It does add up (laughs)!

Everyone: (laughs)

—Well, after the album release, you'll be performing at the Nippon Budokan in January 2021 for the first time. Please tell us your enthusiasm for the live performance!

Jel: Satomi-aniki, if you please.

Satomi: Eh... Sunfish (laughs)!

Nanamori: Oh! Sunfish!

Jel: Ah! Sea Anemone!

Root: Salmon!

Colon: Salmon roe!

Jel: Kangaroo!

Riinu: Eh... Tuna!

Nanamori: Eh... (laughs). This will be the first time in a while to meet the listeners in a live performance. It's a new start for 2021. We're going to make a live performance as happy as possible! We're going to do our best with all the members working together! Please support STPR from now on!
